Adam’s Modern Batman Room

When Adam turned 4, we knew it was time to turn his room into a “big kid” room.  Gone are the neutral stuffed animals, baby quilts, and nursery rhyme prints.  When we asked Adam what he wanted in his room, he immediately said super heroes.  This was not a surprise, as his entire universe revolves around super heroes.  And it’s safe to say that he feels more comfortable and protected when super heroes are around.  He has been going to bed so much better since we made his dream catcher (DIY here), but it’s still nice for him to have Batman watching over him all night!  We chose Batman because he is Adam’s favorite, and I liked the idea of a Navy, Black and White color theme.  I knew we wanted to keep the basics, the couch, toddler bed (which is his converted crib), bookcase, and rug.  I also wanted to keep the overall look simple and clean.  By starting with these amazing wall decals by Urban Walls, I was able to get an immediate Batman effect.  When I first started placing them on the walls, Adam was hopping up and down squealing with delight.  The art and photo banner is made with twine and clothes pins decorated with washi tape.  Adam and I picked out the gold lamp together at IKEA and I think it adds a fun comic book vibe.  It also works as a great night light.  He also found the Batman piggy bank at Target.  It’s been a fun adventure putting this room together with him, and it’s clear he is proud of his special place that he helped create.
